AI used to create new and final Beatles song

It’s kind of scary but exciting, because it’s the future.

Paul McCartney has announced that a rare and poor audio tape (Boom Box) recording of John Lennon can finaly be rescued thanks to AI sampling and repairing the audio file.

The demo was one of several songs on cassettes labelled “For Paul” that Lennon made shortly before his death in 1980, which were later given to McCartney by Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono.

Although, McCartney later revealed the song was shelved because George Harrison had called it “fucking rubbish” and refused to work on it. 🙂

In a a world now where you can recreate voices from anybody (even dead relatives see an earlier post) it is no surprise that musicians with old recordings can make legitimate use of the technology too. It will be interesting to see and hear late this year if John will live again albeit for a moment!

McCartney was asked what he thought of AI and he replied,“I’m not on the internet that much but people will say to me: ‘Oh, yeah, there’s a track where John’s singing one of my songs,’ and it’s just AI … it’s kind of scary but exciting, because it’s the future. We’ll just have to see where that leads.”
