How do you turn off Google Safesearch? (SOLVED)

How do I turn off Google Safe Search?

This is interesting and something surprisingly people do not even notice on their browser!

If you look at the top right of your Google Chrome Browser you will often see Safesearch is on!

Google is filtering your searches. And for some people this is annoying.

According to Google, ‘When SafeSearch is on, it helps filter out explicit content in Google’s search results for all your queries across images, videos, and websites. While SafeSearch isn’t 100% accurate, it’s designed to help block explicit results, like pornography, from your Google search results.’

But I am an adult and want the full search results!

To turn it off can be surprising. The natural thing to do is to go to your browser settings and try and find it… But that is not where it is! Open the Google homepage and look below the search bar at the very top if you have already done a search, or at the bottom right if it is the homepage it will say SETTINGS ON THE ACTUAL PAGE not the Browser. Click that then SEARCH SETTINGS and you will likely see the Safesearch automatically checked. Turning it off you uncheck it then save it at the bottom. If you go back to the browser and it is still on (this can happen) go back and do it again but change the results to 20 per page as well as unchecking it and then save and it should clear and no longer show in the top right. Now when you search you will be given grown up results. I have found some search criteria is missing from Google and I assumed that it was because they were ‘shadowbanning’ them. When in fact it is there but just not suitable for children so they are blocked. This also works the other way around of course. If you have kids and do not want them searching for adult themes then check the box and lock it… Here is a neat little video on how to do that!

Have fun! And happy days! 🙂
